MenopauseMenopause is the year after your last menstrual period; it marks the end of menstrual cycles. The average age for menopause in the US is 51, although it can occur in your 40s or 50s. Generally menopause is caused by a natural decline in hormone production, specifically estrogen and progesterone, which begins in your late 30s. Hysterectomies, chemotherapy, and radiation therapy can also cause menopause. In the case of a total hysterectomy, the process is immediate and sudden. A partial hysterectomy does not usually cause menopause. One other cause is something called primary ovarian sufficiency. This is where the body is unable to produce the normal amount of hormones, causing menopause to occur before 40. This is usually due to an autoimmune or genetic disorder. Primary ovarian sufficiency occurs in about 1% of women.

Peri or Pre-Menopause is the name for the months or years before beginning menopause. In this transitional time, you can experience a variety of basic signs and symptoms that menopause is coming. Women can feel like something is “changing” with their hormones and their body. While it is possible to have regular menstruation all the way up through Pre-Menopause, most people experience irregular periods and can even skip periods, only having them every 2-4 months. Other common signs and symptoms of Pre- Menopause include the following:

  • Irregular periods
  • Vaginal dryness
  • Hot flashes
  • Night sweats
  • Sleep problems
  • Mood changes
  • Fatigue
  • Weight gain and slowed metabolism
  • Thinning hair and dry skin
  • Loss of breast fullness

There are complications that can occur with menopause, such as cardiovascular disease, osteoporosis, weight gain, and urinary incontinence. If you think you might be experiencing perimenopause or menopause, we recommend a check of your hormone levels. This can help let you know where you are in the “change” process. At Nutritionally Yours, we recommend hormone saliva testing. Blood tests only look at the hormones currently being used and transported by the body. Saliva tests look at the hormone potential of the body, and gives a better idea of what your body is producing. Saliva is also a beneficial way to identify if a hormone is stuck in the tissues and contributing to “high” hormone symptoms like weight gain, anxiety, trouble sleeping and more. Once we have your test results, we create a detailed protocol for you to help keep the transition as comfortable as possible.

Nutritionally Yours is here so you can overcome health challenges and get on with your life.

On a personal note, I totally understand the basic signs and symptoms of entering menopause. The change came on pretty suddenly for me, pretty much when I turned 40. One day things are normal, period comes every 28 days, weight is good, skin looked healthy, energy was there and then everything changed. I started getting my period along with PMS symptoms every TWO weeks and with it came mood swings, weight gain, fatigue, hair loss, goodness I did not like it!. Of course my blood tests were normal. It was the saliva hormone tests that showed me what was happening to my hormones and my body. Once I started balancing out my hormones “differently” since I was “changing” I started to balance out. It made me and my family very happy!

Hundreds of clients from the Atlanta, GA area and around the world work with Nutritionally Yours. adrenal glandsThe adrenal glands are two glands that sit directly on top of the kidneys. They serve multiple roles vital to our health and survival. Most of you have heard of their involvement in “fight or flight” responses to stressful situations, but in truth this is only about 20% of what the adrenals do as a whole. The word “adrenal” actually means “near the kidneys.” It comes from the Latin ad – (near or at) renes (kidneys). The adrenal glands are triangular in shape and are made up of three different parts – and could be compared to any fruit with a large seed like an avocado or peach. The outer “skin” layer, called the Capsule, is what protects the adrenals. The Capsules sole function is to hold and protect the adrenals. The other sections of the adrenal glands are the “fruit” layer, or the Cortex, and the “seed” layer, called the Medulla.

The cortex makes up 80% of the adrenal functions. This includes three main roles. The first of which is the production of DHEA and sex hormones. The adrenals can produce both male and female hormones in small amounts, but this amount is generally overshadowed by the hormones produced by the testes and ovaries. The adrenal role in this sense is most beneficial in women, as it is their primary source of androgen production. The second role is the production of corticosteroids. Cortisol and the related hormones are vital for human functions. They regulate our sleep/wake cycle, generate energy from non-carbohydrate foods, fight inflammation, and even help regulate blood pressure. The third role of the Cortex is to produce mineralocorticoids, which regulate extracellular fluid and mineral excretion of sodium, chloride, and potassium.

The Medulla, while only being 20% of adrenal functions, is one of the most important parts of our body as it regulates our fight or flight response which keeps us safe from external stressors and potentially dangerous situations. There are three catecholamines (also called neurotransmitters) that are involved in this function. The first is epinephrine (adrenaline) which increases heart rate and gives energy. The second is norepinephrine, which is normally used to give us energy while we are awake but jolts you during this response to give your body a sense of “readiness.” These two together will temporarily slow down bodily processes like digestion while diverting blood flow to the muscles and the brain to increase awareness and reactivity. The third catecholamine is dopamine. Dopamine is generally associated with “happiness” and is released once a crisis is averted to get the body back to normal levels and function.

If the body is facing too many stressors, or if it is stressed itself from an immune response, the levels of adrenal hormones released lower gradually until a person reaches a state of what is called “adrenal fatigue.” In this adrenal gland state, people generally feel a constant sense of tiredness and a lack of energy in circumstances that would normally get them excited and active. This can also present itself as a lack of ability to proactively deal with external stressors, or even as a general lack of ability to get out of bed in the mornings.

At Nutritionally Yours, we teach our clients what the adrenal glands are and run tests to identify if they are working optimally so our clients can feel their best. We recommend an adrenal saliva test kit  to look at your adrenal gland hormone levels. Saliva is a noninvasive method of testing adrenals throughout the day without having to draw blood four times in one day. A perfect adrenal cortisol curve will start out highest in the morning when you wake and drop slightly throughout the day. The lowest reading should be at bedtime to allow for a good night sleep.

People that may want to test their adrenals glands are those suffering from:

*A recent change in life (work, family, social, etc.)

*A workaholic

*A person with fatigue even after sleeping eight hours per night

*Someone that has over exercised and is concerned they have burnt out their adrenal glands

*Someone that has burnt themselves out drinking excess energy drinks

*A parent that runs their children around from activity to activity and is feeling burnt out.

*A parent that is tired

*Someone with a health crisis or health decline

*An athlete that cannot play as “hard” as they used to

*Someone with an energy decline

*Someone feeling sad or blue

Male MenopauseMen, are you feeling not quite as “manly” as you did ten years ago? Wondering about if there is truth behind the idea of “male menopause?” Male menopause is a term used because of the similarity to female menopause – a decrease leading to an abrupt stop in hormone production in women that can lead to various health concerns, physical changes and emotional changes. The difference in men is that the abrupt “stop” does not happen, rather hormone production decreases at a rate of about 1% for every year past the age of 30 or so. Another term commonly used for male menopause is androgen (testosterone) decline. It is also often simply called low testosterone (or low “T”), since it is less a defined period like female menopause and more a gradual occurrence.

Signs that can point to male menopause vary, but typically fall into the “not feeling quite as manly in general” category. Examples include the following:

-Decline in sexual function

-Change in sleep patterns which can present themselves either as insomnia or being in a state of constant fatigue

-Physical changes such as reduced muscle bulk/strength, increased body fat, decreased bone density, or a loss of body hair

-Emotional changes – at their most basic these appear as a simple decline in confidence or depression, but men who tend to bottle their feelings can actually end up having increased and unhealthy levels of aggression which can cause other issues by itself

Hormones exist in everyone and are produced in unique amounts for each person. DHEA (Dehydroepiandrosterone) is a hormone that is produced primarily in the adrenals but also in the brain, and it is what leads to the production of androgens and estrogens (male and female sex hormones). Men that are producing low amounts of DHEA can be suffering from low T, and low T symptoms; if a man is producing high estrogen they can be displaying the same low T symptoms. The “symptoms” of male menopause can be exemplified if the body is making low Testosterone, low DHEA and / or high estrogen.

At Nutritionally Yours, we recommend a hormone saliva test to check all of your hormone levels so you can get your body back in balance and feeling like yourself again. Saliva tests are 92%-96% accurate and look at much more than a simple blood test. Blood tests only show hormones in your tissues (bound hormones), but saliva tests show the amount of hormones your body is actually producing (unbound hormones) making it a much more consistent and reliable means of testing. Simply put, blood transports hormones to the cells and tissues where the hormone “activity” takes place. Testing the activity area is better than the transport system.

Our favorite tests to help men feel like themselves again:

Thyroid issuesThose who struggle with thyroid issues understand how the odd variety of symptoms can affect your day to day life. Keeping this in mind, it is important to understand what the common signs are of thyroid issues and to know exactly if you have thyroid issues and what kind of thyroid issues you are suffering from. Only then can you find a good direction on how to support your thyroid properly to finally get your body functioning and feeling better.

First, let us talk about the thyroid. The thyroid is a gland in the middle/front of your neck that is in charge of producing and regulating hormones. These hormones influence mood, energy level, metabolism and weight among other things. What are hormones? Hormones are substances produced by the endocrine gland that have a high amount of influence on bodily processes including growth, development, mood, reproduction, and metabolism.

There are three types of thyroid issues that a person can have. The first is hyperthyroidism, or overactive thyroid. This happens when your thyroid produces too many hormones so your body uses energy faster than it should. Common symptoms of a hyperthyroid issue include enlarged thyroid gland, inability to tolerate heat, infrequent periods, irritability, nervousness, muscle weakness or tremors, sleep issues, vision problems, and weight loss. Generally a person can have any mix of these symptoms with an overactive thyroid. The second type of thyroid issue is hypothyroidism, or under-active thyroid. This occurs when the thyroid does not produce enough hormones so the body uses energy slower than it should. Common symptoms of a slow thyroid function include dry skin and hair, fatigue, forgetfulness, frequent and heavy periods, hoarse voice, inability to tolerate cold, weight gain, and enlargement of the thyroid gland. Again, people with hypothyroidism will generally have any mix of these signs and symptoms. The third and final type is auto immune thyroid which is called “Hashimoto’s Thyroiditis”. This is an auto immune thyroid issue when an overactive immune system attacks the thyroid gland because it thinks the thyroid gland is an invader in your body.

There are currently around 20 million Americans with thyroid issues, and people of all ages and races can find themselves suffering from signs and symptoms of thyroid problems. It should also be noted that women are five to eight times more likely to develop thyroid problems than men. There are various causes for thyroid issues including inflammation, nodules, excessive iodine, and a few auto immune. Before deciding that you have a thyroid problem, it is important to have your thyroid and hormone levels tested so you can know exactly what to do to get your body in better shape. At Nutritionally Yours, we offer blood testing and blood spot testing to look at your functional thyroid levels. And we offer saliva hormone tests to look at male / female hormone levels. Why saliva over blood for male / female hormones? While blood tests look at the “bound” hormones already in your bodily tissues, saliva tests look at the “unbound” hormones which are the potential hormones your body can use.

Our thyroid tests are extremely comprehensive, much more than a simple TSH test. We test TSH, T3, Free T3, T4, Free T4, TPO ab and thyroid antithyroglobulin ab. We also offer IGF-1 for pituitary function.

Nutritionally Yoursis here so you can overcome health challenges and get on with your life!

Menopause SymptomsWhere did I put my dark chocolate treat? Yikes, who turned up the heat?!! It’s vacation time in the tropics again! Who turned off the air conditioner?

Menopause symptoms will vary from woman to woman. It is not like ordering a meal in a Chinese restaurant – one from column A and two from column B! Menopause WILL happen to all women, that is a fact. Some women enter into menopause gracefully (without any symptoms), while others are loaded with menopause symptoms. Some women need minimal hormone support, while others need it all! Some women will feel emotionally fine during the hot summer months, and others will emotionally “freak out” if anyone touches the thermostat.

The first year Alane and her husband were married the ac was kept at a reasonable temperature. And the ac bills were reasonable. But only TWO years into the marriage everything changed! Now Alane needs the ac kept at 70, not 71, not 72, but 70 degrees in the spring, summer and fall months. Her husband giggles as he wears sweats to bed and a warm blanket, while Alane tossed the covers off her in the middle of the night. Menopause is tricky but can be handled without causing too much family stress.

Menopause means the cessation of the monthly menstrual cycle; it signals the end of a woman’s natural childbearing years. Menopause is neither a disease nor an illness—it is a natural and usually gradual change in glandular function. This transition produces a variety of bodily manifestations and symptoms, due to changes in the production of hormones and the timing of their release. Menopause is said to have occurred when a woman has not had a menstrual period for 12 months.

Menopause Symptoms

  • Bleeding irregularities, irregular periods caused by irregular estrogen and progesterone levels
  • Vaginal dryness (the one we least like to talk about)
  • Hot flashes or sweats of sudden warm feelings which happen during the day or at night
  • Changes in sex drive
Changes in hormone levels which can be higher or lower than normal during any cycle
  • Insomnia
  • Fatigue
  • Nervousness or irritability
  • Headaches
  • Mood changes or swings
  • Depression
  • Skin aging or cosmetic changes
  • Osteoporosis
  • Altered fat and carbohydrate metabolism
  • Atherosclerosis
  • Weight gain or difficulty loosing weight no matter what you try

The right balance of all of these necessary hormones is important to long-term emotional, mental and bodily health!
Estradiol, Estrone, Estriol, Progesterone, Testosterone, DHT, DHEA-s, Cortisol (AM, lunch, dinner, bedtime)

Alane did hormones, and supports her body naturally. It turned out for her, that Testosterone, Estrogen and Progesterone were all low. She needed all 3 hormones to feel “balanced” out.

Hormone imbalances can make a woman’s menopausal transition a difficult time. A hormone saliva test kit offers valuable information for women seeking natural hormone balance to combat menopause symptoms.

Why Saliva Hormone Testing?

  • Saliva hormone testing is 92-96% accurate
  • It is convenient and does not require a blood draw
  • Saliva is more stable than blood
  • It can be done in the privacy of your home
  • Results are more clinically reflective of your hormone status and needs
  • Our hormone saliva kits test the “free” or bio available hormones
  • Saliva tells the amount of hormones that are in your body and are able to be used by your cells
  • Saliva is a far more accurate and relevant test than blood tests in measuring bio available steroid hormones such as estrogen, progesterone, testosterone, DHEA-S and cortisol
  • Saliva is an easy way to show the relationship between partner hormones like estrogen and progesterone, and DHEA-S and cortisol, which as partner hormones need to be in proper balance

Blood vs Saliva Hormone Testing
Blood and serum tests only look at levels of hormones that are in your tissues. This is called “bound hormone levels.” Hormone saliva testing looks at the “unbound hormone levels” or “free fractioned hormone levels.” Saliva hormone testing checks the level of hormones that are available to be used by your tissues. It is the “unbound” hormones that exert the activity that hormones are known for in the tissues in your body. This gives you a better understanding of the hormone levels that are actually influencing or effecting the tissues, instead of just the level of hormones that are present in the tissues.

All of our saliva hormone testing is done by nationally certified labs so you are assured the accuracy of the results. Results are reviewed by our staff who will then provide you with a personal protocol so you will know what is needed to help improve your hormone or menopause symptoms and help support better health and wellness.

infertilityHaving a child is usually a happy time in a woman’s life. Unfortunately, as we wait longer to have children, infertility and trouble conceiving can become a part of the family making process. One in six couples experience infertility. It is not uncommon.

Infertility can be an extremely troubling situation for couples wanting their very own baby. There are many underlying causes of infertility and things can get overwhelming and confusing. Not any one “treatment” will work for everyone. There is a possibility of results with “natural” steps.

If you suspect infertility there may be a “simple” thyroid, hormone imbalance or a vitamin deficiency that is not showing up with “traditional” medicine methods.

Yes, your thyroid may be the problem, or hormones or even a vitamin deficiency may be to blame. Whatever the cause of the fertility struggles, we at Nutritionally Yours can help improve your pregnancy chances.

Alane loves to go home from work and tell her husband “YAY I got someone pregnant today!” This happens multiple times throughout the year. Some of our infertility success stories have included:

  • liver detox nutrients
  • thyroid support (T3 and T4)
  • mineral deficiency support
  • stress reduction support
  • autoimmune support
  • better hormone balance
  • pituitary support

Hormonal balance is necessary to get pregnant, carry the baby to term and have a healthy baby. If you suspect infertility, do you ever wonder if hormones may be to blame? Hormonal imbalance does not happen overnight. It happens slowly over time.

We live in a fast paced world, full of high demand. That demand puts a lot of stress on the body. Life’s demands put our dietary habits low on the priority list. On top of that, we are exposed to more human made chemical toxins than at any other time in the history of human kind. Most hormonal imbalances that cause infertility are a reflection of lifestyle choices over a long period of time, perhaps months, years and decades. In order to bring our bodies back to a state of fertility, we must change how we view our lives. We must take time to nurture ourselves which helps nurture the future pregnancy and baby.

What exactly does hormonal balance mean for our fertility health? What do hormones do anyway? Does hormonal balance really matter? Absolutely! If our hormone levels are not balanced, our health will suffer. Hormones deliver messages. Our cells are genetically programmed to only receive and respond to messages from certain hormones. Each cell in the body contains hormone receptor cites. Once a hormone fits into a cell’s receptor, it gives the cell instructions. This is similar to a key fitting in a lock. Hormones control our bodily processes. Hormones are coordinated by the endocrine system. Without proper endocrine function, our bodies cannot maintain proper hormonal balance.

Hormone levels can be influenced by stress, fluid changes in the body, vitamin and mineral levels, infection, exposure to environmental toxins and the amount of body fat we have.

In order for fertility to occur there must be hormone balance, optimal thyroid function, optimal liver health, balanced vitamin and mineral levels and low stress. Of course a healthy diet is suggested. If you are struggling with infertility and want to get pregnant and hold onto the pregnancy we can help.

What can we do to change your ‘time of the month’ PMS symptoms to………… “my hormones are in balance! Who wants a hug!!!”

Check out this anti-PMS recipe: and if you like sunflower or pumpkin seeds, sprinkle some on.

anti-pms recipeArugula, Avocado and Tomato Salad

Avocados are loaded with dietary fiber and vitamin B6 which play an important role in the anti-PMS diet. The PMS alleviating effects of this dish may be further strengthened by balsamic vinegar, which not only adds depth and flavor to this dish but which also provides compounds that can significantly lower the glycemic index rating index of the meal. Low glycemic foods help keep blood glucose levels stable, thereby controlling some PMS symptoms such as mood swings and cravings.

PMS SymptomsOoooh noooo! Here we go again, I feel things changing to…….it’s that ‘time of the month.’ Family forgive me, friends, no I won’t feel like getting together, Buster the dog, no I won’t be wanting to play. Why? Because, I’m hormonal!!! I am starting to feel irritable, angry, moody, anxious, headachy, tired…..and coffee and chocolate will not help, even though I think they will!!! Yes I love you all, but I don’t love PMS symptoms.

It’s not funny, but it can help to smile and to laugh about it. But do you know that there are some things that you can do to reduce your PMS symptoms when your monthly “friend” comes to visit for a few days? It’s not just a part of life that we have to live with and not be able to do anything about.

We realize that if you suffer with PMS symptoms, you’re searching for answers that are truly effective and that also deal with the hormonal imbalances that occur in your body. If you’ve tried solutions such as antidepressants, birth control pills, or over the counter products, like Pamprin, Tylenol, and Motrin, this will not address the source of your PMS symptoms. These alternatives may provide some relief for a while, but they won’t, and they can’t prevent your PMS symptoms from coming back again and again.

Besides estrogen, progesterone and testosterone, some of the major hormones we have in our body that effect PMS symptoms are cortisol, adrenalin, and insulin.

High amounts of stress can lead to increased cortisol. This in turn affects progesterone levels and/or insulin production, which leads to increased mood swings, anxiety, and food cravings.

The earlier you know the source of your PMS, you can learn how to reduce symptoms. Here at Nutritionally Yours we look to identify the root cause of what is happening in the body. Unfortunately, traditional treatment is usually aimed at symptom relief only. The benefit of using natural remedies, such as vitamins, minerals and herbs, is that PMS symptoms are reduced because the body’s equilibrium is reestablished. This means that symptom-relief is on-going and you are feeling back to your fun, easy going and loving life self without your “monthly” intrusion.

The most common method used to evaluate your hormone levels that are causing your PMS symptoms is a blood test. However, hormone saliva testing has many advantages to blood testing, one thing being it is highly accurate (92-96% accuracy). It is also much more convenient because it does not require a blood draw and it can be done in the privacy of your home.

Hormone saliva testing is also non invasive, it is affordable, it allows for multiple collections within the same day.

Adrenal TestingAre you having trouble just getting through a normal day? Wouldn’t it be great to have a normal energy level? The first step to combat that tired, blah feeling would be to identify the root cause of the lack of energy.

Did you know that low energy and fatique can be caused by stress, low cortisol, food intolerances, lack of sleep, thyroid imbalance, and hormones… to name a few.

Our clinic recently helped a young lady with chronic fatigue syndrome. In her case, we found through adrenal testing, that her adrenals were the problem. The Adrenal glands are two small triangle-shaped organs that sit over the kidneys. The Adrenals are responsible for regulating the body’s response to stress by controlling adrenal hormones like cortisol released during stress. These adrenal hormones are essential to your health and well being. They determine how your body will respond to everyday occurrences, especially stress. When stress becomes chronic or is not well managed, the adrenal glands are unable to function optimally.

There are wonderful books you can read about Adrenal Fatigue. Most talk about the importance of a healthy lifestyle, clean diet and reducing stress.

Since you probably don’t have a lot of time to read or (because of chronic fatigue) you cannot keep your eyes open, an adrenal test may be your easiest solution! Samples are collected in the privacy of your home, then you ship the samples directly to the lab for analysis. Once the results are in, we send you a protocol to help WAKE UP your adrenals. If you want to read more online about the adrenals and why an adrenal test may help see hormonesaliva.test.org.

It is an awful feeling to wake up everyday with a list of chores and activities that would be acceptable for a normally healthy person and realizing that you probably won’t make it through the day. Almost daily, clients call our clinic telling us they think they have adrenal fatigue and they want to run an adrenal test. Have confidence in your body’s ability to self restore your energy levels to help you function better every single day. You just need to know what to do.

The following is a testimony of a registered nurse whose life has totally changed for the better after working with Nutritionally Yours, having an Adrenal Test done, and getting on a better food and supplement routine……..

“I honestly don’t know where to begin but I want to share my story in the event that it might help someone else. I am a registered nurse and health-care consultant. My husband is a physician and my father and grandfather were both physicians. I have been around “traditional medicine” all my life. I respect it and have seen it work miracles. With that said, I have also seen the gaps in traditional medicine. I absolutely believe that many diseases come from a lack of balance in our own bodies.

I’ve been feeling sick for the last 3- 4 years and was getting worse. I was exhausted from the time I rolled out of bed until I fell back into bed. I hurt all over, all the time and nothing could keep me going except sugar and caffeine. As tired as I was, I was only able to get 3 – 4 hours of sleep a night. I was depressed and couldn’t concentrate. I had gained 35 pounds and couldn’t exercise because I was too tired and all my joints hurt. I was about to give up and accept that my active life was over.

But …. I read a book about adrenal fatigue, balancing your body with nutrition and reducing stress. It made perfect sense so I was off on a mission to heal myself. I spoke to my existing doctors. Some were on board and some were not., Then I set out to find a nutritionist who would work with me and my medical doctor in a whole person/whole body fashion. That’s what led me to Alane at Nutritionally Yours. She listened to my story. We did some lab work including adrenal testing and devised a plan. She put me on supplements, took me off certain foods and my life has changed so dramatically that it’s hard for me to even describe.

I’ve lost 17 pounds. I sleep peacefully through the night – every night. I can concentrate throughout the day and have given up all caffeine and no longer crave sweets all day. I am energetic and happy! The pain has decreased significantly and I now exercise 45 minutes/day – 6 days/week. Alane helped solve the mystery that was ruining my life and I will be forever grateful.”

FatigueVery often people call our clinic and say they are tired and they need a way to test for fatigue. They want to know exactly why their bodies are so tired and what is preventing them from doing what they want to accomplish in life. Most of these people have already been to traditional medical clinics and have been told they are perfectly healthy. But still they wake-up every morning feeling fatigued and by noon they are ready to go back to bed. They know that something is being overlooked as the cause of their fatigue.

Sometimes the fatigue is caused by problems with the thyroid, adrenals, or hormonal imbalances such as low cortisol, DHEA or sluggish T3 or T4. Proper testing can be done to determine the right support needed to help the body overcome fatigue and increase stamina. The end result can be better energy, enhanced health and improved wellness. And of course a happier and more “active” life.

How to Test For Fatigue Causes.

  1. Comprehensive Thyroid with antibodies (Blood Draw) – Most traditional medical clinics run TSH (thyroid stimulating thyroid only, and some add T4. Most natural or “functionally” minded clinics feel more thyroid elements need to be tested to really understand thyroid function. Our thyroid test is run through LabCorp. LabCorp is available in most states, but not all. LabCorp is not available in HI, MA, ND or SD. Client’s in these states can travel to a different state for testing. LabCorp test kits cannot be ordered by residents of MD, NJ, NY or RI. These clients can do test #2 or #4 a blood spot.
  2. Comprehensive Thyroid with antibodies (Blood Spot) For people wanting to test for fatigue using a comprehensive thyroid test without needing to go to LabCorp Blood Spot testing is available for residence of all states and the Blood Spot collection can be performed in the privacy of your own home.
  3. Comprehensive Thyroid (Blood Draw) with antibodies plus Adrenal Saliva Test. The adrenal glands make cortisol which provides you with energy to get through your day. When there is a stress of any kind, at first cortisol production increases but then it gets used up, it drops and the debilitating fatigue sets in. Cortisol is influential with inflammation and pain levels too. DHEA-s levels need to be optimal for people suffering from fatigue. DHEA (Dehydroepiandrosterone) is a hormone that is produced by the adrenals and is a precursor to many hormones that are needed for energy and well being. Labcorp testing is available in most states, but not all. LabCorp is not available in HI, MA, ND or SD. Client’s in these states can travel to a different state for testing. LabCorp test kits cannot be ordered by residents of MD, NJ, NY or RI. These clients can order test #4.
  4. Comprehensive Thyroid (Blood Spot with Adrenal Saliva Test: For people wanting to test for fatigue using a comprehensive thyroid test without needing to go to LabCorp Blood Spot testing is available for residence of all states and the Blood Spot collection can be performed in the privacy of your own home. Saliva testing is the best way to check cortisol levels throughout the day. The first saliva collection needs to be taken within 30 minutes of wake time. DHEA-S is also tested in this kit.
  5. Comprehensive Adrenals plus DHEA-S (saliva) : If you are pretty certain your thyroid is not a cause of your faitgue, then order comprehensive adrenal saliva testing plus DHEA-S. Saliva testing is available for residence of all states. The saliva collection can be performed in the privacy of your own home.

It is really simple to test for fatigue causes. You do not have to stay in fatigue or live life fatigued. There is a good life to live and you deserve to enjoy it, each and every day.
