PMS symptoms occur in women during their estrogen active years and starts one to two weeks prior to menstruation. Women suffering from PMS can have several different symptoms. There actually are 150 different PMS symptoms. Premenstrual Syndrome symptoms start 7 to 14 days before your period begins. All of the symptoms usually stop after your period begins and women can remain symptom free until two weeks prior to their next menstrual period. PMS is a common health problem that effects 33%-50% of all women from age 20-50. PMS symptoms tend to worsen as a women ages. As a teenager maybe your PMS symptoms were not a concern, but as a woman now in your 30’s or 40’s you could have a more severe PMS hormone imbalance.

Other causes of PMS may be estrogen or progesterone deficiencies or elevations, vitamin or mineral deficiencies, poor essential fatty acid metabolism, low serotonin, poor diet, food allergies, mal-absorption, or glucose imbalances.
